Video Votes

I am officially in the running for Telluride TV’s First Annual Video Awards Ceremony. Now all I need are some votes. I’m going to be posting quite a bit to try to rack up the points. Not only is this my first video competition, it’s also a possibility that I’ll use this shirt film for my college submission.

Get onto Facebook and get voting! I know you want to. Follow this link: https://www.facebook.com/TellurideInsideandOut/app_162850930432266 and like Telluride Inside and Out’s page I be able to view the videos.

Mine is called The Other 50%. Get cracking and know that if you vote for my film and you could win fabulous prizes worth more than $600!

Moving On…

I am officially done working for Telluride TV. I’m actually pretty happy about that. I only started the job last year for money and then it turned into being for experience, and then money again. Now I’m done and I could move on.

Apparently everyone else feels this way because Gigi won’t be coming back. Sam is leaving in September for California (lots of hope for that). And Dave is also leaving after two years for some other place (maybe in Chicago).

It’s good for us. There’s not much you can do in local television, there’s no room to stretch. We’re all probably going to miss some aspect of it. For me, it was always a place of laughing to tears, of learning how to have fun at work and learning about what I love. I’m going to miss the people more than the company, for sure.

Still, there won’t be tears.

Movin’ On Out

If you’ve been wondering at all why I haven’t been posting at ALL lately, it’s because we’re in moving mode. I’ve barely even convinced my mom to keep the internet on so I can still use my iphone. On top of all the moving, I’m still working and planning a little thing called VBS (it’s really not little at all). So to say I’ve been busy is an understatement. I’m a bit stressed right now, but there’s only a few days left.

My mom just left to pick up our dog Izzabelle, who I haven’t seen since like, Christmas. I’m super excited, but it’ll be short lived since I’m not moving with my mom.

My sister’s cat had her kittens finally, three healthy ones and one that was still-born. She’s turned into quite a little mama, but we hope they’ll all survive the move in four days. It’s a long one…thankfully, they’re only going to Colorado Springs and not California. I’m sure Stephie will be super happy to see her baby again.

On other news, I’m starting a new video project for the local television’s first Video Awards. I really want to win because I could soooo very much use that $250. Like major. I’m saving up for a Macbook Pro of my own.

I haven’t been posting ANY of the pictures from anything, so I will in a few days. There’s even stuff from before the 4th that I have to share. But here are a few pictures from last weekend at Meghan’s Sweet Sixteen Party.

I’ll Be Missing You…

My mom was supposed to come home yesterday after spending a week in Colorado Springs with my sisters. She was on her way back up when her tire blew, taking out some wires and her headlight with it. It was crazy and I’m thankful it didn’t do anything worse and that she’s safe.

But that means she’s going to be there for at least a few more days. We’re hoping her insurance will pay for a car like last time (man…that car was a babe). And hopefully we’ll be able to buy another one soon so that we won’t be car-less, again.

It isn’t that hard to get around in this small town without a car. It’s just that my work schedule isn’t working with the bus schedule. I keep having to go into town over an hour before work and staying an hour or two afterwards. Plus, without a car, we can’t go buy groceries in Montrose since the nearest Walmart is two hours away.

I’m just hoping things will work out. This seems to always happen when we’re moving. So much stress right now!

Hell of a Long Day

Wednesday was a super long day. I mean, seriously. I was woken up early (7) by my cats and couldn’t fall back asleep. So I decided to start the day early and shower and eat. I waited a good hour for the latest bus to come and then spent another hour at the office before anyone showed up.

At noon, we had a shoot set up with some of the local food benders. While our co-worker, Sam set up with them, he had me and Meghan hand out stickers (my least favorite thing to do). I was not dressed for a day walking around, and by the end of the day, my feet were covered in blisters and my hair was a wreck. We met back up an hour later and did the final shoot, then headed back to the office, where I worked for two hours on Photoshop, trying to piece together our next PSA.

I decided to cut it early so I could get groceries and catch the 315 bus. As soon as we (Meghan and I) left the store, I realized the bus only came at 315 during the school year. So, we walked across town to the Gondola and took it up to Mountain Village. It was one of the most uncomfortable rides I’d ever had. Let me explain…

We were trying to get our own cab so Meghan didn’t have to eat in front of others (she has weird fears, but don’t we all). Instead, we got stuck in one with five other people. And for most of the ride, we rode in complete silence, everyone trying to not stare awkwardly at each other. (Geez, is anyone actually reading this). I already hate the Gondola because I have the biggest fear of heights and every time I ride it there’s at least one moment where the Gondola stops and we sit there swinging for a few minutes (kill me!) Then, once the guys got off at the top, the older couple there started making funny what they thought were funny jokes because apparently they’d gotten a sticker from us.

Finally, we got off and spent the next four hours at the farmers market up there since Meghan and her mom had a booth there. I tried to keep all my groceries I’d mistakenly bought in the shade. Then at six-ish we started taking down the tent and I finally got dropped off at home at 7 and hung out with Meghan until 9 while her parents went to a meeting. I took an hour to work on my Japanese homework. I crashed at 12, finally ending that super long day.

My goodness…did I seriously write this long of a post on one day? Who have I become?
